Hi, I’m Estelle — and I’m absolutely obsessed with tools. 🔨

I’m French, 36, and I’ve been living in the UK for the past 10 years. I share my home with my wife, our daughters, and more tools than I probably need.

Five years ago, my wife and I bought our first house. I picked up a drill for the first time, and honestly? I never put it down.
Since then I’ve laid flooring, built a deck, put up a fence, constructed a partition wall, fully renovated a bathroom from scratch — plumbing, tiling, the lot — done some electrical work, and built fitted furniture. I now have my own workshop at home, which might be my favourite room in the house.
Nobody taught me any of this. I figured it out, made mistakes, tried again — and fell completely in love with the process.

Why HerWorkshop?

Here’s something I noticed along the way: most tool content online feels like it wasn’t written for me. The reviews assume a certain reader. The “beginner guides” skip the parts that actually matter to someone who’s never held a saw. And don’t even get me started on pink tools.
So I built HerWorkshop for women like me — and women nothing like me — who want honest, practical advice without the mansplaining.

What I Believe

I believe that picking up a tool for the first time is one of the most quietly radical things a woman can do.
Not because it’s unusual. But because of what it gives you — confidence, independence, and the deeply satisfying feeling of standing back and saying: I built that.
I’ve saved thousands of pounds doing work myself. But more than the money, I’ve gained skills that make me feel capable of tackling almost anything my home throws at me.
That’s what I want for you too.

The Dream

My ultimate project? Buy a complete fixer-upper and do everything myself — every room, every system, every finish — and turn it into the house of my dreams. I’ll be documenting every step of it here when the time comes. 👀
In the meantime, I’ll keep testing tools, writing honest reviews, and sharing everything I learn so you can skip the mistakes I made.
